Year of the Horse - As the name suggests her quirk is based on the Horse of the Chinese zodiac. Hoshiko is able to transform into a horse either fully or partially.Untransformed, she is fairly unremarkable; however she is stronger than an average girl of her height and weight, but not nearly as strong as she is fully transformed. She is also a little faster than average, but again, cannot reach the speeds that she is capable of when she is fully transformed. When she transforms partially she gains the sensitive smell and hearing of a horse, as well as changing some of her physical attributes; most notably her legs. She grows a smooth layer of chestnut hair on her thighs and white fetlocks grow from her calves. Also the hair on her head becomes a little more coarse and looses some of it's usual softness and lustre. When she transforms fully she becomes an eighteen hands tall, bay Clydesdale. In this form she has all the abilities of a horse; including the acute senses and almost 360Β° vision. She can also pull loads weighing up to 8,000lb and run at speeds of up to 25 or 30 mph at a full gallop. The drawbacks of her quirk include physical inconveniences such as cramps if she has exerted herself, dizziness from adjusting to and from having almost 360Β° vision to 120Β° vision and extreme fatigue and nausea if she stays fully or partially transformed for too long. But it also comes with social inconveniences as she is sometimes overcome with a compulsion to behave like a horse or react with equine instincts at random intervals. For example; running in open spaces, jumping over raised poles and hurdles, graze on leftover food, run from loud noises or people running at her or past her and playing with or "grooming" people's hair.

Untransformed, she is a girl who is a little above average height and is a little on the chubby side, but not enough to be thought of as overweight, though many might describe her as sturdy. She has short dark brown hair and purple-brown eyes. She has a round face that is often said by others to look friendly or cute, she has a pale complexion; though has a tendency to gain freckles rather than tan in the summer.Fully transformed, she takes on the appearance of an eighteen hands high bay clydesdale; a large, heavyweight draught breed. Though she can still run at impressive speeds, like the breed her body takes on;her strength, in particular her pulling strength and proclivity for load bearing, is where she excels.

Generally Hoshiko has quite a gentle and warm personality, coming off as quite mature. She is outgoing, but not in an especially overt way. Usually she is kind and considerate towards others unless she feels threatened or like they do not deserve her respect, the usual reason for the latter is if they frequently mistreat others or herself. She is also quite trusting, a result of growing up in a small farming community where everybody knows everybody, sometimes appearing gullible to those who don't know her. This, combined with the fact that she scares easily makes her a good and frequent target of pranks. And, while she isn't very good at pranking others, she is playful, however it presents itself in more innocent ways, such as running into the wind, kicking balls or cans that she finds, crunching the fallen leaves in Autumn and occasionally mildly teasing her friends. She can also be quite free spirited at times and doesn't like being controlled or boxed in and while she appreciates support from others she is quite independent and happy to take on tasks and challenges by herself. While she is generally cooperative, she does have a strong stubborn streak. If she has made her mind up about something or someone it is almost impossible to persuade her of anything else. Only someone whom she is exceptionally close to would be able to talk her into or out of something. Otherwise she will very quickly become agitated with the person opposing her and will continue to proverbially (and depending on the situation, literally) dig her heels in even further simply to spite them.

Unlike many aspiring heroes Hoshiko was not born in the city surrounded by heroes. She's actually a country girl, born and bred. She was born and grew up on a farm tucked into the Japanese countryside with her parents, Chiyo and Tsubaki Tasunke, and her four siblings Aya, Haruhi, Kairi and Juro. She is the only child among her siblings to have been born with the horse zodiac quirk, much to the astonihment of her family as neither of her parents can recall that quirk ever having presented itself in either of their family histories, the other four have their mother's quirk which allows them to levitate a few feet off of the ground.Hoshiko's dream to become a hero happened when she was roughly five and she watched a video the debut of the hero Present Mic online.Captivated by the persona of the hero and how effectively he helped others, she would spend hours on end rewatching the clip. Eventually she found clips of other heroes and her fascination continued to grow. She watched every documentary, read up on every article and listened to every broadcast she could find.Eventually it became her dream to move to the city and become a hero herself and her parents were happy to support her. Perhaps partly because her father himself had once fancied being a hero but, due to insufficient grades, had to give up on it following his graduation from middle school. However Hoshiko was diligent and hardworking as she strived to make her dreams a reality. Upon learning that Present Mic, who was still and remains to this very day, her favourite hero, taught at Yuuei; she decided to try for it despite it's intimidating prestige and entry statistics. And, was able to land herself a spot in the hero course, shortly after being accepted she left her family for the city.At first, she struggled to fit in with her class. Many had lived in the city their entire lives and were hardened in a way that Hoshiko wasn't and, to some extent, still isn't. Also her accent and occassional use of country dialect was met with a mixed reception; some found it charming while others made fun of her for it.However gradually she made friends and adapted to her new lifestyle. She has grown in more ways than she ever could have imagined but she still has a long way to go.
